Now that you are REGISTERED and added to a GROUP (by the Administrator) you want to find your way around. If you look at the example below I have highlighted where the basic navigation points are that get you back to the main Forum Index. This position will also indicate where you are in the structure: INDEX >> FORUM >> TOPIC >> POST (hopefully become clearer later...)
We are currently at the FORUM INDEX level, where we can see a list of all the FORUMS available to view and/or POST in. Right then, to enter a FORUM click on the relevant FORUM title as below:
Now you will see a list of TOPICS that have been created within that FORUM. Note the INDEX >> FORUM line showing where we are now. Click one of the TOPICS to view all the POSTS within it:
You will now see the TOPIC name at the top in large type, just to show you where you are! Notice that the INDEX >> FORUM line is still there. Now you can read the series of POSTS in this TOPIC. I have pointed out some relevant (and not quite so relevant!) items shown on screen. Should you want to REPLY (or reply with QUOTE) to either POST, click one of the options shown below:
Hopefully you are getting the hang of this now! The following shows what you get when you have chosen to QUOTE a particular POST, but it is much the same if you just hit POST REPLY, but it would not include the quoted text. Type your message - you can edit out any of the quoted text that is NOT relevant if you wish, to save confusion, but leave the bits within the square brackets [ ] as this controls the way the QUOTE is shown. Once you have typed your message click on Submit, and you have now successfully POSTED your first message!
Other points to note are that a TOPIC is often referred to as a THREAD once there are several responses to it, and the subsequent POSTS. And that about sums up basic navigation. If anyone needs more help added here, I may move on to more detailed instructions, but I think if you can follow this to here, you should be able to post quick questions in the General Help area of the Forum to which I or others will I am sure respond!
